The striking Tibouchina makes an excellent container specimen. The tree produces an abundance of long bloom stalks that are covered with 2-3 in. royal purple flowers. This lovely tree blooms heaviest throughout the summer. The Tibouchina prefers sun and moderate water and may also be planted in the ground. Under ideal conditions, it can grow to 15 feet. Regular applications, during warm months of 6-6-6 granular fertilizer is best for this tree and they must no be allowed to dry out. Tibouchina's ideal in-ground zones are 9b - 11, though can be container grown anywhere!! |
