The Queen Palm is fast growing and one of the most revered landscape Palms in most sub-tropical areas of the world. It has dark green, arching, feathery leaves up to 15` long with wide bases and long petioles. This royal beauty bears a fruit, yellow to orange in color, with a roundish shape, about 1" long. The tree can grow to 30 feet or more and loves heavy applications of Palm Granular 7-2-7 fertilizer during the warm months. They are also quite tolerant of cold and can handle freezing temperatures with little or no damage. The Queen Palm is also quite tolerant of salt water and salt air and is frequently planted in Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and California in coastal areas. While this palm can be grown in containers for several years, it will eventually outgrow them and have to be planted in the ground. This is not a suitable palm for growing indoors.
