The Licuala is one of the most attractive and unique palms available for tropical landscapes. The fronds are very large and round. They are bright, shiny and green and immediately catch the eye because of their corrugated and symmetrical shape. Because of it`s petite size and slow rate of growth, this shade loving species can be maintained for many years in a container. Mature plants can tolerate a considerable amount of sun. Maximum height is 8 feet, 5 feet in a container. They cannot tolerate temperatures lower than 38F degrees for more than 2 hours. While they can recover, even a light frost will severely damage them. The need applications of Palm Granular 7-2-7 Fertilizer 4 times annually. Neutral Copper Fungicide is of benefit as well during the more humid, hot months of the year. |
